With three tournaments left, in
the Midwest segment of the
tour, Soccer in the Sand (SI TS)
is very happy with the growth.
Team registration has nearly
doubled or greater then doubled in all location
in the Midwest from 2009 standards. Grand
Haven kicked off the Midwest 2010 Series of
SI TS. Grand Haven in its third year played
host to 100 beach soccer teams. Grand Haven
is one of the most beautiful sandy beaches in
the SI TS Tour. The city of Grand Haven, on
Lake Michigan can be found on the west side
of the state, 100 miles west of East Lansing
which is home to the Michigan State University
Spartans. The series final stop is in Racine,
Wisconsin on the west side of the great Lake
Michigan. Racine is the only inaugural site in
this portion of the SITS tour.
Those from all over the country that have not
had the pleasure of visiting the Midwest may
find the success of Beach Soccer surprising in
this area. Rests assure that the East and West
coasts of the United States are not the only
places in America that house wonderful beaches.
A fun fact that the state of Michigan has more
water front property then California does. The
Great Lakes have some amazing beaches and
SITS is very happy to be able to be involved with
these wonderful natural surfaces, to place host
to a variation of the Worlds most Popular game.
Soccer is big everywhere in our country, the
number one sport played by American Youth.
As beach soccer is still new to our country it
is catching on fast. Midwestern residences do
not get the luxury of using their magnificent
beaches all year round. The idea of involving
the game that youth love and getting families
out to the beach to take advantage this summer
and in the future, has been an innovative idea
that all comers are very excited about getting
involved in a Soccer in the Sand Event.
It is the third year in a row the beach soccer series ‘Soccer in the Sand’ has toured the great lakes of the Midwest.
